My house is heated by a propane fireplace. With the cost of propane rising dramatically, I bought three of these heaters last year and used them all winter. I heated my full 1200 square foot living area with those three heaters at an approximate cost of $1 per day. I can't recommend these highly enough. And if you have children or pets, they are very safe--they do get hot, but not hot enough to burn you. Plus, they are totally quiet.
I have recommended these heaters to friends and neighbors.

2.) Very nice for secondary zone heating

As we try to turn back the temps at night, so we dont heat a 2,000 sq ft house, while we sleep under the covers...I have 2 kids which dont always stay under the covers!

So I used the typical space heaters for a while, ugly as the are, and at 750 or 1500 watts, they kept the room temps up just fine.

Along comes this wall unit, at 400 watts. It attaches to the wall, can be painted to match the room, plugs into any outlet, and one can heat a small room by itself.

While I do not recommend these for primary heating, because they take too long to warm up, I HIGHLY recommend them for seconardy zone heating for bedrooms.

Connecting two of more per room, and you probably could use them for primary heating and *could* take the place of base board heaters. But 2 or 3 panels would take up a lot of space and not look good, thus I do not recommend replacing baseboard heaters with these panels.

These are on simple switches out of the box, there is no thermostat. I have found the Lux WIN100 Smart Temp Fully Programmable Thermostat to be the ultimate solution. Set the times you want the heater on and off, set the temps you want, plug it in, then plug in the heater...and your done for the season.

In a word...Hooray. Low energy consumption (400 watts), no tipping over, easy to install, nice toasty heat, this heater has many benefits. My home is heated by a centrally located fireplace (so I'm already a fan of radiant heat) and I use this heater to keep a bedroom warm. Installed this about 1 week ago and so far so good. As promised on the packaging, it really does only take 10 minutes to install.
The only downside is that the panel itself does get reasonably hot, it's true that it's safe enough that you can touch it and not get burnt, but you won't want too do that. I was going to install in a kids room, but had second thoughts after giving it a test run. Also it would have been great for the manufacturer to include information re: direct wire installation or use of a thermostat. ..but these are really minor points compared to having a great heat source that is safely out of the way, mounted to the wall, and efficient.

Like many I have a whole house force air system and it is never balance right. Adding one of these really take the edge off the cold room. I have it for a week so far, it is so awesome. I highly recommend a purchase of digital thermostat switch along with it too. I also measured the electrical consumption using killawatt device... not bad at all, it really use less than 400watt of power... So I figures 8 to 10 hours a day, it will translates 5kw per day and in NYC, the per kw cost of electricity in winter time is about 10c... so.. about 50c top every day to heat up a room...it is not bad at all.

I researched a lot of supplemental type of heaters before deciding on this one. Delivery was prompt, installation simple. I installed this in my family room which is on the walk-in level of my home in Michigan. No matter what I turn my natural gas heater up to, the lower level where this room is located is always a bit cold especially the floor area. After a couple of hours, I thought.. hmmm... I don't think this is going to make much difference. My downstairs was still about 4-6 degree cooler then the upstairs. Decided to leave it on overnight, checked the next morning and the warmth as soon as I hit the downstairs said it all.. I was quite suprised and very impressed! I was able to turn the upstairs thermostat down a few degrees and the downstairs continues to maintain about the same temp as upstairs. The money I will save from turning down the main thermostat will more then make up for any incresase in electricity from the eco-heater.

If you are trying to heat a room with no supplemental heat source, i.e, natural gas furnace, don't bother. If you have a cooler room and tired of cranking up the heat to keep it warm you need this!

Remember, this does not have a fan, but the natural flow of cold/warm air replacement makes this heater feel as if there is a fan circulating the heat. You gotta try it to believe it! And, with a cost near $100 to purchase, you can't lose.

I installed this heater last weekend. It was relatively easy to install even though it's slightly heavy (similar to shelving, etc). I have a 1200 SF house (2 floors) and I installed this on one of my living room walls (approx. 120 SF).

And while it hasn't gotten below about 30 degrees at night yet, the heater takes the edge off. I won't know how well it keeps up until later in the season but I am hopeful. I will probably need at least one more unit to heat the remainder of the downstairs.

I couldn't find many reviews but decided to give it a try and so far I'm pleased.

We purchased the heater and had it installed for about a week now. The installation was very easy and it is actually very light. We put it on the wall and it blended very well with the rest of the room. To my surprise, it worked as advertised. There is a noticeable difference in the room when we have it on. Granted we are still at the start of the winter here in the Northeast, but so far we have been very happy with it. We highly recommend it. By the way, I agree with the lady who said that its surrounding gets to be somewhat hot, but it's not hot enough to form a hazard.

I have both, twin 4 year old boys and a high strung Weimaraner named Amara. Anyway, we needed a heater for the 2nd largest and furthest bedroom from our forced air furnace. Even though our home is only 6 years old and very well insulated, the furnace just can't keep that room warm enough for true comfort. Earlier this spring our boys moved into this room and I knew that the heat was going to be an issue in the winter. The room has always been a few degrees cooler than any other room in the house during the winter months. The room measures 11x13 (143 sq ft) with a 14 ft tray ceiling and a 52" ceiling fan so it's a little larger than the 120 sq ft the manufacturer recommends but it has done a great job at keeping the room the same temp as the rest of the house. We keep the thermostat at 65 degrees during the winter and so far so good! What we have done thus far is turned the unit on and off but ordered an outlet thermostat to control it more efficiently.

As for installation, it could not be easier! The hardware provided is actually good quality. It came with 4 EZ Anchor style drywall anchors, 4 large drywall style screws and some cheap insert style anchors that I did not use. I aligned my unit next to an outlet so I could sink 2 of the screws into a stud and have the outlet right there to plug it into. I felt better anchoring at least 2 of the screws into a stud. I used the EZ Anchor type anchors for the other 2 screws. The template that was provided worked great! Just level the template, use one of the screws provided to poke a hole through the marked template to mark the wall and hang the unit. I was able to do it myself in about 5 minutes, literally!! I am fairly handy so maybe plan on 10 minutes if you aren't.

Heat output is AWESOME!! It heats up 100% in about 10-15 minutes and you can really feel the difference right away. The unit does NOT get as hot to the touch as one reviewer eluded to but it is definitely sufficient to heat the above mentioned room 2-3 degrees and keep it very comfortable with the door closed. The dog just sniffed the unit and walked away and both of my boys were given a class/lecture/briefing on not touching or playing around with the unit. I did have both of them touch the unit after it was fully heated to show them it will not burn them but to never play with it nonetheless.

Overall I really like the unit and am going to order 2 more for my basement. My dad is also interested for his house as well. Hope this review can help you make a educated decision on this unit. I am really impressed with every aspect and I was skeptical when doing the initial research.

This is an amazing little heater. So quiet, you will never know its on, blends right in to the wall, takes up no space and super easy to install. All hardware included, mounts with 4 screws and just plugs into a 110volt outlet. I will buy a second and third to help warm those cold spots around the house. The product description did not say how it was wired and I thought it might have to be hard wired, what a pleasant suprise to just plug in and forget it. Keep it away from very small children as it does get hot.

I bought this heater in Fall 2008 and installed it in the bedroom of my 2 month old daughter. Actually I bought it from a different seller who sells the same model except with some painting on it. Mine had a cute picture of a family of bears. I came to the Amazon website to buy a thermostat for this product and decided to leave a review for the panel itself.

I have a very small bedroom and did not have any space available to install the panel close to the floor so I installed it above the love seat. As I said, mine had a cure picture, so it actually looks like a picture on the wall rather than a heater and my daughter always smiles at it. My guest never realized that it is a heater...
So it is not a big problem if it is installed at 4-5 ft above the floor particular if your room is not very big.

It take about 10-15 minutes for the heater to warm up so you have to keep in it mind. That is why I ended up using it continuously in my daughters room and had to keep the door open sometimes to prevent temperature from raising up to much. That is why I came back to buy a thermostat and would recommend to other to buy it.

Once the heater is running, it does get hot, but you can still touch it for short period of time without getting burned. So it is safe to touch.

It does not make any noise, and does not dry the air. I recommended this product to all my friend who recently had babies.

We went from a conventional wall heater to the eco-heater. We hard wired it and the thermostat turns it on as needed. I can't wait for our winter heating bill because it should be way less than what it was with the convention wall heater. We plan to change our other 3 heaters to the Eco-heater to reduce our amount of electricity that we use. Great product.

This is a great product. We did a lot of research before buying this heater, as we were concerned about safety. We bought this for our child's nursery because we wanted to keep the nursery warm but not have to heat the whole house as high. I will highlight several points:

1) Customer service is great: I called them with several questions and they answered them all
2) Delivery was fast and installation VERY easy.
3) We plug it into a thermostat so it only heats the room up to what we set it to on the programable thermostat. This works great so we know it will shut off if the room gets over 71 degrees. We also installed a fire detector above the panel just in case as an added precaution.
4) The room we have it in is small, only about 12 ft by 12 ft, so one panel does the job easily.
5) While the panel does get hot to touch, it does not seem hot enough to burn my hand. That said, I would not leave a child that does not know to pull his/her hand away unattended with it on.

There were several complaints about cracks appearing, etc. Thus far we have not had any cracks, I hope this does not happen to ours. We have been using it for about 1 month and it is working great. But, if things change I will update the review. We did get our first electricity bill and it was barely affected by the use of the heater as far as we could tell.

For Christmas my Grammie received an Eco-Heater for her sun-room. This room, an extension of her house, wasn't well insulated during finishing. Even with two heat ducts, the large windows transfers cool temperatures indoors. Her space heater, loud for its size, managed to create hot spots without affecting the rest of the room and posed a danger to my children as they played.

The Eco-Heater has been the perfect fit for her needs. It's a quiet, no burn risk which effectively heats the entire room without creating hot spots. It mounted easily and can be painted to blend seamlessly to the wall. Below are manufacture description and the answer to why this is a [...] Product of the Week.

- Convection technology generates heat behind the unit, drawing cold air into the 3/4-inch gap between the heater and the wall and releasing about 90 percent in an up-draft from the top of the unit out into the room, with only 10 percent radiating forward from the front of the panel

- Uses only 27% of energy that a typical 1500 watt heater, the equivalent of four 100-watt light bulbs

- Top concerns with heater safety are the possibility of a fire. ECO-heaters have no exposed elements or areas for dust accumulation; therefore, the risk of fire is almost nil

- Although the heater is hot to touch, it will not burn the skin if touched

My husband and I purchased a home in Ohio and went there this past winter. We have a wonderful propane heater that worked well but oh did it cost us! I had purchased 6 of these heaters and decided to put one of them up. I was pleasantly surprised when I realized the propane heater came on less, so I put up two more in this 12 x 17 very open room (I left the one up for a month before I put the other two up). They kept the room and the adjoining large room at a consistent 66 degrees when the temperature outside was in the low 20's and below. But, the ultimate decision to continue using these was to be made when the electric bill came out.

When we received the electric bill I had had one heater plugged in 24/7 and our electric bill rose $5.00. I was shocked. Wow, these are the best of the best in my opinion. Now we have 5 of them up and I will order 3 more for other rooms. I will be heating a 1,500 sq. ft., 1 1/2 story with these. For once, I've purchased something that really does work as well as the company says it does.

I needed a relatively small heater to keep a 150 sq ft room warm while still being pet friendly (won't burn anyone or outgas bird toxic fumes). So far I couldn't be much happier. This heater does take a few minutes to come up to temperature so that it can begin heating the room, and it also does take a bit longer, once warm, to heat the entire room compared to other space heaters its size. However the fact that the Eco-heater draws much less power, fits my pet requirements, and it is more space efficient (as it attaches to the wall) outweigh the few extra minutes I have to wait to be warm. Even that can be cheaply addressed if you buy a programmable outlet thermostat.

I purchased this item after reading the other reviews posted here, and the experience of others is pretty accurate.

I installed this in a master bathroom, (1978-built home; the bath is SMALL by today's McMansion standards,) and the heater seems to be working just as it should. This bathroom is usually chilly, as it has 3 outside walls, and is located on the north side of our home.

Uncomplicated installation, but I would recommend using enclosed template, or tracing one from the heater itself. The unit is a large ceramic tile, approximately 24" square, and weighs a good 10 pounds, so if you don't have the template, it can be cumbersome to hold the tile against the wall by yourself. (I bought this used, from an Amazon 3rd-party seller, and it did not arrive with a template.) It can be installed by one person, which I did. (Woman pretty handy with tools.)

Works as stated, taking the chill off this room. Our home is all-electric, no NG or propane, so the winter bills kill us. (Central air w/heat pump.) Living in north texas, it doesn't get bone-chilling cold, but regularly freezes, so I've been on a mission the past few years to make our house as efficient as possible, to lower the electric bills. I will probably buy a few more of these heaters, paint them to match the walls, and install in other rooms. I would recommend them for 'spot' heating, but don't expect them to heat your entire home or apartment.

Because it takes up no floor space, I appreciate the fact that I will not have to pack this away and haul it up to the attic in the spring, which is something we do with our other space heaters.

My daughter's room is right above the garage, and gets quite cold, even though it's "properly" heated and insulated. We installed the eco-heater 2 weeks ago, and it's working great. It's essentially a ceramic tile with a heating element in it somehow, and it works great in her small room (about 10x10). I painted it, so it really looks like part of her wall, which is a big plus for me.

One suggestion that was mentioned by another reviewer is to use a thermostat. We're using one, and it's keeping the room a perfect 72 through the night.

**Edited to add: We've now had this unit for a year, and it's still working great! The heat is really nice, it's like having radiant heat on the wall--a gentle warmth that's just enough to keep the room warm. Still highly recommended.

This item is great! We live in a large old farm house with strickly baseboard heat. Both of the bathrooms have NO heaters so we purchased 3 of these units. We added one to each bathroom and a cold spot in our bedroom. The bathroom stays nice and toasty during the day and night now with no temperature difference between rooms.

We love the eco-heater so much we are considering replacing all of our 1500w baseboard heaters with these 400w heaters to save major $$ on our electric bill and lessen our carbon footprint.

There are many benefits to this heater but it is NOT PERFECT. As much as I LOVE this item, it does get a lot hotter than the company would like you to think. Too hot in my opinion to have around small children where they could easily burn their fingers or melt a plastic toy against it.

The heater was simple to install any man or woman cold do it in about 30 minutes or less. The foam packaging doubles as a template for your wall so you know the exact place to put the screw in and mount it. That was handy, however as an environmentalist, I was disappointed that the Eco-Heater used foam padding for shipping and a template rather than a biodegradable or recycled cardboard one. Now I am stuck with all this foam packing that can not be recycled and will NEVER be biodegradable. I feel this is something the manufacturer should consider since it is calling it an 'eco heater'. Shouldn't the packaging and the entire item be totally environmentally friendly?

There is room for improvement like adding a thermostat so it doesn't continuously run unless you manually shut it off. Again, get rid of the foam packaging so it is more environmentally friendly.

The item is made in Africa, and personally I feel that gives it a little more credibility than being made in China.

If and when you do decide to purchase this item, shop elsewhere. I love Amazon and their site, however a place called 'The Andersons', a general type of store has them everyday for $99. We almost purchased them online but would have spend nearly $150. by the time you figured in Shipping & Handling. There are other stores that carry them as well and I encourage you to shop locally in your own home town to help support your community. If your going to be 'green' please do it right and consider all aspects. Do NO Harm in all you do and use conscious thinking. That is being green!

I first heard about this from another Amazon reveiwer that was reviewing another heater, and they ended up getting this one. I thought I would end up getting an oil filled heater, but there were a lot of reviews of quality problems, noise and fumes. This one seemed to fit the bill for my particular requirements, so I ordered one. It does not have thermostatic controls, just an on/off switch. We control it with a LUX win100 programmable outlet thermostat (see my review). Together the 2 products keep baby's room exactly at 70 degrees from 8:00PM to 7:30AM, allowing us to turn off the house furnace at night. It doesn't get hot enough to catch anything on fire or stink like a lot of higher wattage heaters. I also have a concern with adding a 1500 watt heater (most other heaters) to an already maxed 15 amp breaker. This is only a 400 watt unit. We are in northern california where it only gets down to the 40's or 50's at night outside. It works fine for us in a 10 x 12 room with the door closed. It does not run constantly to keep the room to 70, so I suppose it could keep up with colder weather. We've had no problems so far. It does not stink, make noise or get hot enough to burn you. One concern I had was how it would be when our baby turns into a toddler and finds in necessary to touch everything. It is supposed to be mounted low so the heat goes up and circulates, so it can't be placed out of reach of a child. It won't burn you if you touch it, but you will not want to touch it for more that a second! Hopefully, we can use it through the toddler stage without any injuries. Lastly, I don't quite get why it is so expensive, since it is just a large low wattage heating element (without even a thermostatic control). I would think a product like this would market for about $50.00 or so. Therefore 4 stars....otherwise I would give it 5 stars. Hopefully, it will last for a while... We are happy with it and would recommend it if it suits your needs.

Hi Everyone, Ive been reading reviews and I was getting more confused, not less confused! So I finally decided to just purchase one and see for myself! I first saw an advertisement for the Eco-Heater in Cat Fancy magazine touting it for pet rooms. We have two outside cats who come into the garage to sleep at night. We are in MS, so it's not the frozen tundra of the north, but we do get under freezing. Right now it's 10:30am and 35 degrees. My husband put in a insulated room of 7x7x6 for the cats. Most people have closets bigger then this! But it's in a totally unheated garage and the Eco-Heater warms it up great! It is perfect for pets who could other wise knock over a freestanding heater. It does get hot to the touch, but my cat rubbed up against it the other day and it didn't faze her.

But here is the caveat. I have a 14x14x8 bedroom with 6 windows and no central heat. I don't think even two of these would make it toasty enough. They might warm it up a bit, or if you could get them close to the bed. I'm speculating, but I really think these would work better in small enclosed spaces without drafts, such as a bonus room off of a bedroom or a small office, or if you have central heat and you just need this for supplemental heat. So I am not going to purchase these for my bedroom, because they are hard to get vendors to take them back and if I'm not happy with how they warm up the room I'm stuck with them. 3 of them might work, but then you are into $400.00. Plus I'm concerned with the reviews about the cracking and not lasting for more then a couple of years. Too much money if they don't last very long!

I hope this was helpful.

Based on many of the reviews here, we had purchased 4 of these heaters to supplement our expensive oil heating. I work from a small home office and so heating the whole house during the day was unnecessary. Instead we run the furnace once in the morning, and then once or twice at night, relying on these heaters to maintain the temperature.

We installed one of these heaters in an upstairs 10x10 office, another in an upstairs 10x10 bedroom, and the 2 others downstairs, shared between our living room and dining room (about 12 x 24 in total). They were easy to paint, but as we have old horsehair plaster walls, not all of them were easy to install; it took some creative work and a trip to Home Depot.

In the bedroom and office these work quite well. The bedroom is quite toasty (the only insulated room), and after a few cold New England nights we've found that it has performed very well. Winter air is already dry, so we don't keep the heater on all night, but rather heat up the room before bed and then have it turn on at about 5am (we use appliance timers).

The office heater could only be located all the way on the other side of the room from where I work, but it does a decent--not great--job of maintaining a temperature of around 60 - 65 degrees (and sometimes warmer towards the afternoon after it has been on for a few hours).

The downstairs heaters have a much harder job, because the living/dining areas are open to other rooms (kitchen, foyer), but they do an OK job of supplementing the hot water heat (probably by just a few degrees, though).

Surprisingly, our electric bill was only marginally higher, and far lower than running our A/C in the heat of summer. People really have to remember that these are intended to be ECONOMICAL units, not ultra, super, turbo-charged heaters.

Some notes:

- Yes, you can definitely burn yourself on the surface of this heater. It's not as hot as a red-hot space heater or a stove top, but it'll still leave a mark.

- Placement is really important, so read the safety/installation instructions and make sure that you have a sensible place to put one. ie: Avoid installing near doorways, windows and open entryways.

- If you have horsehair plaster walls like ours, you'd do best to line up one side of the heater with a stud, and then reinforce the other two screw holes before installing (I drilled out a 1/2" hole for each and then used multiple applications of spackling paste over a few days before drilling the final pilot holes).

- It's best to turn on the heaters AT LEAST 2-3 hours before you plan to be in a room. We have all of them connected to appliance timers...and be sure to keep doors closed while the room heats up.

Hope this helps.

It was also much larger than I expected, it's 2x2 ft square, so make sure you have enough room on your wall for the heater, and still extra space on either side to prevent things from catching on fire. Other then the mounting hardware could be better quality (broke out a wall anchor right away) it's been great. While I don't think that it would work as a sole heat source it does a great job of taking the chill out of the air at night. I am still waiting for the thermostat to get here so I just put the unit on a timer. When I go in to my daughter's room at night it's now the warmest in the house. It does take up a lot of wall space but it is relatively out of the way. The surface does get hot but not so hot that you would instantly burn yourself. I bought this heater to install in the nursery so the baby's room would stay warmer overnight while the rest of the house went down to 60 degrees. The house has attic insulation, but no wall insulation, and there are storm windows.

The good about the heater: It is unobtrusive. We have it installed on an interior wall out of the way. It is easy to install; it took about 10 minutes. It keeps the baby's room warmer than the rest of the house. I also like the fact that it uses less power than a standard heater. Not only is it cheaper to run, I have fewer concerns about overloading circuits. I like the fact that it has a paintable surface, although I haven't decided if I am going to paint it. I have heard that painting radiators reduces their efficiency and I don't know if that applies to this heater.

The less than good: We have had this heater on in a rather small room (10 by 10) with a hot water radiator system, and over night it only seems to bring the temperature about 5 degrees above the temperature in the rest of the house. Based on other reviews of this heater and others, I ordered the plug in thermostat. I think I will return it because I won't ever need to turn off the heat because it is too hot. Also, the passive heating means that it takes a while for the heater to have any impact on the temperature of the room. I turn it on at 6 pm so that the room will be comfortable when the central heat goes down to 60 degrees at 10 pm. My final concern is that the heater says it can be mounted at any height, but that it works best closest to the ground -- 6 to 18 inches above the baseboard. I was hoping to install it higher so my baby wouldn't accidentally burn himself on it. Since heat rises, I should have realized this flaw in my logic.

I don't think this is a bad product, it just isn't as good as I wanted it to be for $150.

For some uses this will be fine. It's a low output heater, which is a good fit for some situations. The fact that it's wall mountable helps keep it out of the way. Though at 24" square, it's not really that small. And like other panel convection heaters, it's very quiet (though that also means the heat circulates slowly).

But the price is ridiculous.

And to say it's economical or green to run ... it's no more or less economical than any other electric heater. It's merely low output. You can easily get the same result with any heater by running it less. There's no something for nothing here ... creating a certain amount of heat takes a certain amount of energy.

And, it would be more economical if it had a thermostat to shut itself off when it got to the temperature you wanted.

While not as small or unobtrusive, the DeLonghi HHP1500 Mica Panel Radiator has two power settings and a thermostat, can be wall mounted, and while hot to the touch is not dangerously hot.

I bought this very enthusiatically after reading so many positive reviews - to heat an outbuilding that is brick and well-insulated. I needed something that would bring the base temperature to around 50 degrees continuously -- and I planned on using other heat sources to bring the temp higher during actual use. I mounted two of these in a 500 sq ft area.

On the positive side, they are very easy to install, unobtrusive and attractive. They would probably be great to make an area warmer that is already heated -- a bedroom or bathroom would likely be ideal. I even bought a programable thermostat for it. In retrospect, I really didn't need it.

On the negative side, both running 24/7 were unable to bring the temp of the area to 40 degrees... let alone 50. This was when the outside temp was 25 to 30. I would understand that it couldn't heat up the room in extraordinarily cold weather -- but I did expect them to be able to raise the temp more than 10 degrees! I wish I had realized the limitations before using them. Some of the reviews on here gave me a false impression of their output.

Additionally, the outside of these does get hot enough to be potentially dangerous to very little children. I wouldn't leave a child unattended with it installed. Of course, that is true of any heating system.

Overall, I think these would be great for supplemental heating -- and they are as described. However, I am disappointed with the output for the amount that I paid for them. I hope my review helps someone else.

According to my thermometer, which I located on the other side of the 14x16' room, it MAY have raised it one degree. There's definite warmth coming from the unit, but I think for a heater to perform in a cold room, the warm air needs to MOVE into the room rather than loom a short distance around the unit, so to speak.

On the plus side, it is hardly noticeable. It does get quite hot, so to keep my dog from burning her curious snout, I set a small gate I had handy in front of it. I'm not sure if this is really necessary, though.

All electric heaters have essentially the same efficiency, because they all work by resistive heating. There is no magic, just simple physics. This one features a very large surface area, which probably helps get convection flow going in the room and heat the room air more evenly, so the room may "feel" warmer than if, for example, it were heated by a few feet of cheap electric baseboard which drew the exact same 400W. On the other hand, a longer section of baseboard wrapped around the room, controlled by a good-quality wall thermostat, would use exactly the same amount of energy over time to heat the room air to the same temperature -- and you wouldn't have to worry about having a big, hot-to-the-touch panel on the wall, which may not be desirable for those with small kids.

In sum: the "more efficient" claim is pure bunk. Resistive heating is resistive heating. On the other hand, for those who can't or don't want to install long runs of baseboard to get some good convection flow going to even out temperature throughout the room maybe this is a good fit. Any way you look at it, in the United States where our electricity generation is heavily biased towards coal and the cost of electricity is high almost everywhere, this is neither an eco-friendly nor a cheap way to heat your house.

It's impossible for a space heater to turn electric energy into heat energy more efficiently. (unless its a heat-pump)
Weather the heater uses tungsten, quartz, ceramic, etc. You still have the same formula: 1 watt = 3.41 btu

82.) A disappointment
Reviewed by: Manuel Sousa

I tried the product and was disappointed. I wall-installed it in my home office, a room that is about 18x16 feet and unfortunately, couldn't even tell it was there (even though I was only 5 feet away from it!). I would not recommend the product for that size of a room. I also tried the DeLonghi Micathermic Flat Panel in the same room and had excellent results. This is the first time I have ever tried these types of radiant heaters and I do like the idea of quiet heating.

Based on my experiences, I can't recommend the Eco-heater and I returned the product. The DeLonghi on the other hand, worked really well to heat up my office and if you are interested in a radiant heater, I do recommend it.

83.) Does Not Work - Severely Over Priced wall ornament - Heat Radius 3 ft Max

Forget using this to heat any size room larger than a very tiny 3x5 bathroom. Running 2 of these 24 hours a day in a 9x10 room only raised temp 2 degrees. Not Green as they do not provide adequate heat for energy used. You are better off buying a less expensive heater that uses somewhat more electricity but provides substantially more heat output. I have since purchased a SoleusAir Micathermic Flat Panel Heater at less than 1/2 the price of one of these, but it puts out at least twice the heat than two of these "Eco-heaters" combined using about the same amount of electricity (976 watts vs 800 watts). The Micathermic Flat Panel raised the room temperature fast and can be wall mounted or rolled around on included wheels. Not so with the "Eco-heater" which can only be wall mounted and does not provide any heat more than 3 feet from the device. Lets just say you have been warned about the pitfalls of the "Eco-heater" and if you buy it, you will come to regret that decision because it will not live up to the hype.

When I pulled this useless heater to return to seller, the ceramic was already separating in one corner. USELESS JUNK!

We bought 4 and our electric bill tripled. We just had an energy audit in fact and found the flat panel unit was drawing 9 cents / hr -- not the three they claim. I've bought one of these heater. I thought I could save some money. It's ok for small room , may be less than 10 feet. Problem is it's made of some kind of cheap board. I've put this in my bedroom to save some money. One night, I've heard a popping sound and when I looked, I saw a big crack on the heater. It was just waste of my money. Don't buy this crap.

No where on the this product's website or on the packaging does is it explicitly stated to use or not to use this product in a bathroom. Once you open the packaging you'll find a smallish brochure inside stating not to use in a bathroom. Had I known this information up front, I would have never bought the product. I left the installation of this product to my contractor who never read the precautionary measures and tossed the packaging away. Only when I went to use the heater as it is getting chilly at night, did I learn my big mistake. Even if it could be used in a bathroom, the unit is very, very, very slow to heat up. I can't endorse this product. It is a waste of $130.00.

90.) Not a whole room heater!
Reviewed by: Nin Los Angeles, CA

I bought this as a christmas gift for my boyfriend to use in his bedroom. Mainly because it is cost efficient and doesn't take up any floor space. Being very excited to install it, it was a big let down. I've read all the reviews on here and that is why I end up paying so much for this little thing. First, we left it on for hours and the room was still cold! Then,we leave the central heater on and have this on and after the central heater gets turned off, this does not keep the room cozy whatsoever. How it heats up a whole room (ours was 9x9) is beyond me. For the same amount of money, you can buy yourself a nice radiator instead. Please save yourself the money and time. This thing does not work.

Pros:
- You can place your hands 5 inches from it to warm up
- probably saves you energy (because it doesn't heat up)

Cons:
- does not heat up a room
- really heavy, be sure you mount it on your wall where there is support
- way too expensive for what not doing what it claims

I was so happy with my first Eco-Heater that I soon bought a second one. Then one of them developed a self-caused burn mark. I contacted the company, which promptly replaced it. I was so happy with the service that I bought another one (I have solar panels so my electricity is virtually free while my gas heating system is quite costly). So now I have three. Unfortunately, one of them is no longer usable because I fear the burnt-wire smell it gives out (although I don't see any traces of the problem). The second one makes a big scary spark when I turn it off. The third one still works well under my desk to keep my legs warm while I work. I really love the Eco-Heater, I'll most certainly try it again but for now I don't find it safe to use unless I'm in the room with it.

Well me for one. I simply believed what they said and I ordered this thing. What a waste. After 8 hours in my 200 square foot bedroom the temperature did not change at all. However, the heater itself was toasty as was the wall behind it.

400 watts isn't going to heat much of anything. It takes 700 watts to toast bread.

Best to save your money. Here you'll just waste it.
