This is a substantially improved design over the older one (Model MH9B). I live in snow country and use this portable heater with a 5 gallon propane tank indoors in winter to supplement my (high cost) electric heat. It is safe and works well to help heat my 1400 sq ft condo.

I ordered this item after researching online for efficiency and price. I intended to use it as emergency heat for my small home. However, when I received the heater and took out the user's manual, I was immediately warned, in at least 3 areas on the cover page alone, the this heater was NEVER to be used indoors in a house, camper, or EVEN A TENT! I never saw any warning in the product description online, and several reviewers even mentioned that they use the heater in their home. BEWARE! It is no doubt a fine product, used properly. But: IT IS NOT FOR INDOOR USE!

I live in Colroado. We just got finished camping with the Boy Scouts. We camped at roughly 10,000 feet. I got the heeater because I thought it was going to keep the tent warm. Wrong! It doesn't workd above 7,000 feet. I learned this little tid bit AFTER I had purchased itfrom the salesman in the camping department at Bass Pro. Who makes a heater, sells it in Colorado to the camping/fishing/hunting market and it won't work above 7,000 feet? We froze our ashes off. Be careful of what you buy and read all the fine print. You would think that if it was sold at a Colorado outdoors store that it would work ABOVE 7,000 feet.

The MH9B little buddy is a 4,000-9,000-BTU portable, indoor safe radiant heater. A single 4,000 heat setting delivers sufficient radiant heat for a space up to 200-square-feet. Safety features include a tip over switch that will shut the heater off if it gets knocked over and a low oxygen sensor that shuts the heater off when oxygen levels in the room get too low. The pilot design will also shut the heater off completely if the pilot light goes out. Heater uses a knob for ignition and a separate single button acts as a kill switch.
